The date of this show, 2 April, coincided with the anniversary of the 1981 demonstrations.<\/p>\n

Last night, a show called, \u201cIn prison a person counts everything\u201d was performed at the \u201cPrison of the Ideal\u201d Museum, in Prishtina.<\/p>\n

This was the start of a new series of cultural activities to launch the \u201cPrison of the Ideal\u201d Museum. Presenting some of the text and materials kept by former political prisoners from the Yugoslav period in Kosovo and more widely, is the aim of archiving, preserving and exhibiting them.<\/p>\n

The motif of counting as a narrative technique manifests in various forms stemming from the cruelty and captivity experienced by prisoners of conscience. Already, in the stories told last night by the activists Selatin Novosella,\u00a0Shefik Sadriu, Shukrije Gashi, Kadri Kryeziu and Martin \u00c7uni, emotional tales were recalled sometimes as a examples of resistance, solidarity and suffering, and sometimes as a form of symbolism, survival and the strength of not forgetting.<\/p>\n

These stories underpin a key aspect of this historic chapter, through which the path of state formation passed. By placing these stories in the actual space, in the prison, the intention at the opening last night was to make the experience more tangible for visitors, and to attract more attention to the museum.<\/p>\n

As part of the project to launch the museum, Molla e Kuqe (Red Apple), with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, in 2025 and 2026, has planned a series of cultural and artistic activities, that address the topics of memory, narratives about the past, and the transformations that characterised this period. During the evening, there were stage readings, video installations, and storytelling by some former political prisoners. The date of this show, 2 April, coincided with the anniversary of the demonstrations of 1981, an event that was a turning point in the history of Albanian resistance in the former Yugoslavia.<\/p>\n

From 3 April 2025, Burgu i Idealit (<\/em>\u201cPrison of the Ideal\u201d Museum<\/em>) is open to visitors during office hours: Tuesday \u2013 Saturday, from 10.00 \u2013 16.00.<\/em><\/p>\n
